But nasal allergies can also lead to severe nasal congestion, difficulty breathing, severe headaches and more. Worse still for some people, severe nasal allergies (a disease of the upper respiratory system) can exacerbate their . . . . . . medical prescriptions and misdiagnosed conditions. In fact, medical errors are the eighth leading cause of death in the nation. Tragically, many people receive delayed medical treatment in an emergency because personal health information and identification is not instantly attainable. All too often, individuals are unresponsive and unable to communicate their special needs. One of the best methods to ensure patient safety is to quickly identify an individual and their medical conditions in an AAFA was recently named the recipient of a $100,000 donation from the AstraZeneca Charity Challenge at the PGA Tours BellSouth Classic, held on April 1 in Atlanta, Ga. Asthma patients are the real winners of this golf tournament, said Chris Ward, AAFAs president. Tell your server about your food allergies . Repeat the information about your food allergies if you also speak with the manager or chef. When asking about ingredients, pick one menu item to ask about. Ask if your meal is prepared with equipment that is also used for foods that you are allergic to. Tell your server that the identified foods just cant be removed from the plate; the dish must be prepared without them. You cant simply take the nuts out of the salad! If you have any doubts about the food preparation, choose another restaurant. Never go out to eat without your epinephrine injector!
